Tate McRaeis kicking off a new Spotify series with a picturesque performance.

The Canadian pop star, 20, delivered a heartfelt acoustic rendition of her emotional breakup track “Run for the Hills” from atop a hill at Harbor Studios in Malibu, California, for the music streaming platform’s newOUTSIDEvideo series. PEOPLE has the clip’s exclusive premiere.

Seated next to a guitarist in the video, McRae gives an affective vocal performance (through a Spotify-green microphone) of the pop song’s lyrics, which chronicle a fraught romantic relationship that’s destined to end but doesn’t.

OUTSIDEis Spotify’s latest video programming, and each installment of the series will feature a musician performing one of their songs from an outdoor location of their choice.

“When I was working onThink Later, I would drive around for hours listening to the music, and always found myself on the [Pacific Coast Highway],” adds McRae of filming herOUTSIDEperformance. “I feel very lucky to be able to make music in these places and now call it my home.”

“this video represents a never ending relationship — kinda like you’re constantly running but constantly running in place, never able to break the cycle,” wrote McRaeon Instagramat the time. “this vid is very special to me.”

“This has been the biggest whirlwind of my life, and honestly just the coolest thing I’ve ever experienced,” McRae said of her mainstream arrival. “I have a very hard time wrapping my head around it.”
