Patrick Mahomeslearned the importance of comma placement — and the edit button — on X Monday night.
On the platform formerly known as Twitter, the Kansas City Chiefs star shared his reaction to New York Jets quarterbackAaron Rodgers’ shocking injury, but his lack of punctuation proved problematic.
“Hate that man… Praying for the best,” the 27-year-old quarterback wrote, to some followers’ surprise.
But within the hour, Mahomes was made aware of his grammatical mistake and edited his post to read: “Hate that, man… Praying for the best.”
He then addedin a separate post: “Knew i was going to need that edit button on here one of these days,” alongside a laughing-crying emoji.
“Proud of this edit,”the Merriam-Webster dictionary account wrote, while another follower agreed: “Edit skills are [fire].”

Mahomes' quick thinking was enhanced due to his ability to use the edit function — which is only available to verified Twitter users.
Still, many of the commenters’ minds were more on Rodgers, who did not return to the game after obtaining an X-ray on his foot. Head coach Robert Salehsaid to reporters following the gamehe would get an MRI on Tuesday.
“We’re concerned with his Achilles,” he said. “The MRI is probably going to confirm what we think is going to happen. So prayers tonight …. but it’s not good.”
By Tuesday morning, Rodgers’ prognosis was still unannounced, but Mahomes’ post had nearly 65,000 likes.
