A Maryland community is mourning after athree-car crashleft four people dead, including a grandson and two of his grandparents.
The collision occurred Saturday afternoon when a Saturn rear-ended a Chevrolet Equinox that had stopped while attempting to turn left onto Skidmore Road from Liberty Road in Carroll County, according to a news release fromMaryland State Police.
Charles and two passengers — Barbara Black, 69 and Debbie Hill, 63, of New Windsor — were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, MSP said.
Two other passengers from the Chevrolet — Gage Black, 17, and Phillip Ceresa, 15, of New Windsor — were transported to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore with undisclosed injuries. Gage later died.
Charles and Barbara were Gage’s grandparents, and Debbie was Barbara’s sister, according toThe Baltimore Sun.

“Our community suffered an unimaginable tragedy and loss,” the organizers wrote in the fundraiser’s description. They described the victims as four “amazing people.”

“It is a sad morning,” the organization wrote Sunday in a post on its Facebook page.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing. “Investigators do not believe that impaired driving was a factor in this crash,” according to MSP.
The driver of the Ford that hit the Chevrolet — identified as 59-year-old Jeffrey Burdette of Mt. Airy — was also injured in the crash. He was transported to Carroll Hospital in Westminster with undisclosed injuries.
