What it does have now is a bigger , thicker composition board shape that ’s far more durable , and contain phones up to six inch in size of it — with way larger lenses to correct for the bigger screen . Oh , and it ’s beget a push made of cardboard too . No need for finnicky magnets or a metal washer .
How the heck does a cardboard button work ? It ’s jolly coolheaded : You ’re actually press down on a cardboard flapping that ’s linked to a conductive launching pad , which get contact with your phone ’s touch screen when you urge it down . Using the new version of Cardboard is much like the original , and that ’s mostly a in effect thing . If you ’ve already used the app with a former version of Cardboard , you just have to go into the configurations and read the QR code on the raw edition . Just drop your speech sound in , delineate it up properly , and you ’re off to the race . I find that it conform to both my Nexus 6 and Sean ’s 4.7 - inch first coevals Moto X , no problem . The previous version of Cardboard was definitely too small to concord the Nexus 6 .
There ’s nothing here that feels all that revolutionary . Also , some apps , it seems , have not adjusted for the unexampled looker and I had double vision . The game Lamper - Dive , for instance , produced double - imagination so bad that it was totally unplayable . Apps like that were in the minority , though . The trippy - as - hell Adult Swim app looked great , as did the scary - as - infernal region pernicious 3 app . I might ’ve peed a little .
We ’re really glad to see Google continuing to support Cardboard , but honestly , we want more . I require to seethat awesome Justin Lin Spotlight Storyin Cardboard . I desire it to be easy to switch between apps . And yeah , I need to be capable to strap it to my damn face . But it ’s still very exciting , and Google ’s Cardboard in the Classroom syllabus ( aka Expeditions ) calculate amazing . Any melioration is good , but we want more .
