One of the most famous toon cat of all time is coming back to charm a whole new multiplication .

Nickelodeon just made a deal to assume the rights to Garfield with an eye on bringing the iconicJim Davis mirthful stripback to television . The cable channel will alsonow control merchandiseand “ positioning - ground experience , ” which could mean anything from popping - ups to theme parks .

“ This acquisition marks another footstep in our organic evolution toward being kids ’ first stop for the best Modern content and characters , so we ’re incredibly happy to have Garfield join our grow roster of globally loved franchise and to introduce this cool Arabian tea to a new multiplication of fans , ” Nickelodeon president Brian Robbins said in a press release .

Besides a novel animate series , toys , and everything else , Davis will continue to get the long - running laughable strip and seems quite excited about the deal too .
