Back in July , Disney Animation Studios greenlit the movie version of the lesser known Japanese superhero team Big Hero 6 . Don Hall ( Winnie the Pooh ) is attached to direct . The CG - liven up movie follows a robotics prodigy named Hiro Hamada and his automaton fellow Baymax , who join a team of superheroes in a high - tech city called San Fransokyo ( the first big change Disney made to the source stuff , as the comic is set in Tokyo ) .
