Because theNY Times lately exposedChina ’s Prime Minister , Wen Jiabao , for having made jillion of buck through business dealings , Formosan hacker have been trying to chop and penetrate the NY Times for the past 4 months . security measures experts say the hackers used methods uniform with the Chinese war machine .
According to security business firm Mandiant ( which was hired by the Times ) , the Chinese hackers tried to hide their individuality by rout their attack on the NY Times through universities in the United States . premature hacking onslaught have used this method acting and many of those attack originated from China . The NY Times reports :
The attackers first put in malware – malicious software – that enabled them to gain accounting entry to any computer on The Times ’s connection . The malware was identify by computer security expert as a specific strain consociate with computer flak spring up in China . More evidence of the source , expert allege , is that the onset start from the same university computers used by the Chinese military to assail United States military contractors in the yesteryear .
No customer data has been stolen and from what they can enjoin , there has been no evidence that sensitive files about the Wen category gathered through coverage have been obtained either . China has a history of hack American company , sometimes causing them to gethacked mighty back . Many of its hacking initiatives are done in fiat to control China ’s public image , along with stealing secrets . Which means this ai n’t the first time and it wo n’t be the last . [ NY Times ]
