TheWall Street Journalreports that on Monday the National Transportation Safety Board ( NTSB ) officially unfreeze its report on themysterious battery firesthatgrounded Boeing ’s 787 Dreamlinerfleet last class . And while they did n’t identify what caused the real short circuit , the NTSB put the incrimination on a serial publication of failures by Boeing , Japan ’s GS Yuasa Corp.—who append the 787 ’s batteries — and even the FAA .
A “ likely manufacturing defect ” is as specific as the NTSB got in the study , putting part of the blame on GS Yuasa Corp. for the firstDreamliner battery firethat happen atBoston ’s Logan International Airportin January of last twelvemonth . It was also confirmed that the Nipponese party hadperformed its safety examination on a unlike adaptation of the batterythan was used in the final design and build of the Dreamliner .
The NTSB made certain to spread some of the blame to the FAA as well for a lack of oversight of Boeing ’s extended outsourcing glide path when it came to putting the 787 into production .

Since the issue at Logan International , Boeing has project , tested , and implemented new safety measures in the Dreamliner to vastly reduce the risk of exposure of succeeding shelling fires , as well as scheme designed to better address the site were it to ever rebel again . But improvement in the invention of the 787 ’s barrage fire themselves will hopefully intend they never have to be put to apply . [ WSJ ]
