Two photos in a single shape . Thedouble exposureis a fantastic manipulation of photography , and these 69 entries to this week’sShooting Challengeprove it .

WINNER and Lead Shot – X-Ray

I guess twofold photo would be a good way to get an x - ray type effect . I tried taking photo of the interior and outside of various objects : books / boxes / cabinet / etc . Then I thought , “ duh , my book - grip . ” So I take aim all the hooey out of my bag and lay it out as if it were still at heart on a solid profane blanket to keep the background constant . I had to be careful to delineate up the shots just right , so that the point inwardly line up with the outside of the udder . I screwed up a little in the top right corner of the newspaper publisher , but I did n’t have time to reshoot . This is my first actual attempt at a Gizmodo Photo Challenge , hope you like it ! Nikon D7000 , 18 - 105 mm Nikkor DX VR @ 38 millimetre , ISO 125 , f/4.5 , Shutter Speed : 1/60 .

If only drome security could get simulacrum like this !

Moon Over Alaska

I take this over the course of a couple of days this week . I want to capture the Lord’s Day and the moon in the same sky . This happens quite often in Alaska this time of year I just wanted to make it look a little more striking . Camera : Canon 7D , Lens : Canon 100 - 400 mm and Canon 50 millimetre .

Sprockets

inject with Lomo ’s “ Sprocket Rocket ” , this is the Bob Kerry pedestrian bridge from Omaha to Council Bluffs . Shot on Saturday February 12 , this was the first semi ardent day ( in the 40 ’s after being below zero most of the week ) and many masses took advantage of the weather to walk the bridge . Since the “ Sprocket Rocket ” has not light meter and shoots at 1/100th of a 2d or bulb , the icon come up out a bit over exposed , but bringing it back in Photoshop gave it an interesting tone . Film was pop off 200 Fuji .

Icy Fingers

In Northern Michigan it ’s inhuman , so cold you aver your fingers will break off while snapping up the mantrap , but there is always an endless escapade awaiting , alas we go along on . accept while ramble the dandy north with my best buddies , Sunny Rose and Mook . ( Mook seem in picture . ) This photo was take using an iPhone 4 and the Hippstamatic lotion . The picture used was the Clauch 72 Monochrome film , and the lens was Salvador 84 .

Thanks for the chance ! : )

Underwater Sunset

This twofold picture includes a film of the beautiful California Sunset rig over the beach layer / treble queer over the very calm ripples of the sea . It almost looks like the sundown was fool away in the reflexion in the weewee . I wanted to keep adding layers / more exposures , but it just got too vivid and it miss its lulu . I involve the commenters advice and used

blending set to Screen as well as low the opacity to 75 % . shoot on Nikon D90 , 105 mm , f5.6 , iso 200

Cliff Diving

I took a misstep with a few friend to place call the “ Blue Room ” on the island of Curacao , which is a place where you may go cliff diving and offer killer snorkeling ( let in an underwater cave which it is name after ) . I was taking scene of people in the atmosphere as they were dive off the cliffs and I also take a few of the drop-off themselves and I thought shuffle the different perspectives and colors would make for a really coolheaded Pop Art type picture for this week ’s photo competition . I hope you like it ! Panasonic DMC - TS2 28 millimetre Leica ( attach ) Base Layer- Effects : Psuedo - HDR 1/1000 sec . ISO-80 f/3.3 Second Layer- Effects : Sepia 1/250 sec . ISO-400 f/3.3

Put a Bird On It

I trail this piffling hombre ( scissor tail fly backstop ) around a downtown park until he paused for just a 2d and posed . The dispossessed guys across the street were giving me odd looks . My hand example then pose with with a red onion she was slicing . It made me think of the Beatles ’ trash onion . canyon 30d , Canon EF 50 mm F1.8 II Lens , Bird : 1/500 , ISO200 , f8.0 , Onion : 1/80 , ISO400 , f2.5 , Wiley Post product in photoshop just for overlay purposes .

Malibu Longboard

I settle to go take some photo in Malibu at sunrise . The camera I used was a 1953 Rolleicord that I earlier inherit when my Uncle passed away abruptly . I come in across a longboard that was just put utterly for this chance . After developing and scanning the picture I was proud of to see it come out better than I had expected .

Optical Pedestal Transporter

I was out in the subject area working with one of our Kineto - Tracking Mounts and since it was a beautiful daylight , I cogitate that a span of film showing the tool opened and close would make a great three-fold exposure . The landscape here in southern New Mexico makes a nifty background . I did n’t have a tripod , so I tried to keep the rapid climb and frame as nigh as I could and used PS to line everything up . Canon 60D , 18 - 135 Kit Lens , AV 1/3200 at f/3.5 , ISO 100

Futura

Went out shooting today and feel like these three had a recurring feeling . As it worked out , they seemed to complement one another well spatially , and did n’t look cluttered together , as multiple vulnerability can do . The three exposures were bourgeon separately ( I really want to do this one the older fashioned way , but did n’t find the sentence to get motion-picture show developed ) and were combined in Photoshop and re - imported to Lightroom for some curve adjustments and tone correction . They are , from back to front : the logo and edge of the tire on a Ford Futura , an amazing candle bearer and vase seen through a window , and the side of my friend ’s head . Thanks for the challenge ! All three exposure shot on a Nikon D700 with a 35 mm f/2

Coffee Break

fritter with a Canon 5dII , 24 - 105 f4 / L , and 50 millimeter f1.4 . Both shots were significantly underexposed . I immediately had the theme of putting my keyboard in coffee when I saw this challenge . The white cup will hide details around the unexposed black coffee , and I pass to be think about coffee through the majority of the day while staring at my computer ’s keyboard . so as to place the shot of my keyboard only in the chocolate , I cut a set through several piece of music of paper and put that over my Macbook ’s back - lit keyboard . I ended up with a shot of the well-lighted keys that rival the pattern of my coffee quite well . I line them up in photoshop , blended them with the ‘ screen ’ modal value ( thank you rootyb ) , and merged . No masks or other digital effects were needed or used to produce the final product .
